Get AI suggestions while reconciling

When you reconcile a bank account, Spine’s rules suggest matches for most lines. For the odd ones they can’t settle, AI can suggest which entry a line matches, or what to create for it, with its reason. You still match or create each one yourself.

Who can do this

Owners, and Staff whose Team has Use AI features and Reconcile accounts. AI and Suggest bank matches must be on in Settings › AI assistant.

1. Open the reconciliation — Start or continue reconciling the account in Banking.

2. Press Suggest with AI — Above the statement panel, “Suggest with AI (4 lines)” counts the lines the rules couldn’t settle. AI only runs when you press it, so a long statement doesn’t use your budget unasked.

3. Look at the Suggested tab — AI’s suggestions appear marked AI suggests, with the reason — for example “same amount; description mentions Maple Ridge”.

4. Match or skip each one — On a line, “AI suggests: entry · contact” has Match and Not this one. When you select the line, AI’s entry comes first in the entries panel, before the same amount and nearest dates.

5. Create what’s missing — “AI suggests creating: category · contact” has Create and Exclude. Create opens the form with the suggested kind, category and contact filled in, marked Suggested by AI. Check it and save.

Things to know

• Match all suggested only matches the rules’ suggestions. AI suggestions aren’t included — check and match each one.
• Ignoring a suggestion matches or creates nothing.
• A line matched from AI’s suggestion reads “Matched · suggested by AI”.
• Suggest again replaces the suggestions with new ones. AI looks at up to 30 lines at a time.
• AI is sent the lines’ dates, amounts and descriptions, with account numbers and IDs removed.
