Update the field app

When your company’s Spine server is upgraded, it may need a newer version of the field app. Updating keeps your sign-in and anything waiting to send, so you can pick up where you left off.

Who can do this

Anyone with the field app installed. During the beta, an Owner shares each new Android version with the crew.

Install a newer beta

1. Get the new version — Open the link your office sends for the new version and download it.
2. Install it over the old one — Press Install. You don’t need to delete the old app first; the new one replaces it.
3. Check the version — Open Profile. The version line at the bottom shows the new number, with Beta during the beta, for example “Spine 1.0.0-beta.2 (14) · Beta”.

Caution

Don’t delete the app to update it. Deleting it removes anything still waiting to send, and you’ll need to sign in again.

When the app says “Update Spine to keep going”

If your server needs a newer app than the one on your phone, the app stops and shows Update Spine to keep going: “Your company’s Spine server needs a newer version of this app. It only takes a minute.”

Anything waiting to send stays on the phone: “n items waiting to send are kept on this phone and sent after you update.” Sync shows them with “Update Spine to send them · they’re kept on this phone”.

The screen has Open App Store (iPhone) or Open Google Play (Android). During the beta the app isn’t in the stores yet, so ask your office for the newer version and install it as above. Once you’ve updated, open the app; waiting items send on their own.
