Set a new password for someone
When a Staff or Field member can’t sign in and can’t use the reset email — say, a crew member on site — you can set a new password for them. They’re signed out everywhere, emailed that an Owner changed it, and choose their own the next time they sign in.
-
Open their menu — Go to Team › Users, open the person’s row menu and choose Change password.
-
Use the suggested password, or type one — “Change name’s password” suggests a strong password, shown so you can pass it on. Press Generate another for a different one, or type your own; the strength meter and checklist show whether it’s good enough. Use Copy password to copy it.
-
Read what happens — The dialog lists it: they’re signed out on every device, web and phone; Spine emails them that an owner changed their password, never the password itself; and you give them the new password yourself, in person or by phone.
-
Change it — Press Change password. The toast says their password changed.
What they see next
Section titled “What they see next”When they sign in with the password you gave them — on the web or in the field app — Spine first asks them to Choose your own password. It must be at least 8 characters and not the one they were given. Until they press Save and continue, they can’t do anything else in Spine.
Recorded in the audit log
Section titled “Recorded in the audit log”The audit log records that the password was set and by whom — never the password. See Use the audit log.
