Log a day's labour

When a crew works a day on a job, you can log the cost as headcount times day rate instead of a single amount. You enter each trade, how many workers, and the day rate; the app adds it up. It goes to the office for approval like any expense, and it’s saved on the phone if there’s no signal.

  1. Start a new expense — Press Log expense on Today, or + (iPhone) or Log expense (Android) on Expenses.
  2. Switch to labour — At the top, choose Headcount × day rate instead of Amount. The category for direct labour is chosen for you.
  3. Choose the job — Pick the Job. It’s required: “Labour is always for a job — choose one.”
  4. Add each trade — Under Trades, enter the Trade, the number of Workers and the Day rate. Each row shows its total. Press Add trade for another row. A trade you’ve used before is suggested with its last day rate.
  5. Check the total — Total for the day adds up every row.
  6. Submit — Fill in the Date and Description if you need to, then press Submit.

The form reminds you: “Labour is always for a job. Only trades, headcounts and day rates — no names or hours.”

A row with no trade, no workers or no day rate shows “Every row needs a trade, at least one worker and a day rate.” Fill it in, or remove the row.

The expense shows under Waiting to sync until it sends, then as Submitted on the Expenses tab. Your office approves it, and its cost counts towards the job.
