Export GSTR-1 for the GST portal
GSTR-1 is the return of your outward supplies. Spine builds it from your issued invoices and credit notes, checks it for the problems the portal would reject, and gives you a JSON file to upload and an Excel copy to review. Spine prepares the file; you check it and upload it yourself.
- Open GSTR-1 — Go to Reports and choose GSTR-1 under Tax.
- Choose how you file — Under Filing, pick Monthly or Quarterly, then the Period. The header shows the period and your GSTIN.
- Read the cards — The taxable value and tax across every table, and the number of documents. The tax card says whether it equals the Tax Summary; if not, it shows what the Tax Summary says.
- Fix the problems — If anything’s wrong, “Fix these before you upload” lists it before the download buttons: registered customers with no GSTIN, lines with no HSN/SAC code, invoices with no place of supply, and totals that don’t match the Tax Summary. Each has a link to the record to fix.
- Check the tables — Counts and values for B2B (registered customers), B2CL (large unregistered inter-state), B2CS (other unregistered), CDNR and CDNUR (credit notes, registered and unregistered), Exports, Nil, exempt and non-GST, the HSN summary, and Documents issued.
- Download — Press Download JSON for the portal, or Download Excel to review.
What’s in the files
Section titled “What’s in the files”- The JSON follows the GST portal’s GSTR-1 upload format, with your GSTIN, the period and its schema version.
- The Excel file has one sheet per GSTR-1 table plus Problems, with the same figures as the JSON.
- A credit note in this period against an invoice from an earlier period goes in CDNR or CDNUR with the original invoice’s number and date.
- Documents issued lists invoice and credit note number ranges, with totals and how many were voided.
- Total tax in the file equals the Tax Summary’s tax collected for the period.
The footer reminds you: “Spine prepares this file; it doesn’t file your return. Check it, then upload it on the GST portal.”
