Enter a day of site labour
For a day’s labour on site, you don’t need to work the total out by hand. Enter each trade with how many workers and their day rate, and Spine adds it up. The labour is an expense like any other: it waits for approval, then posts to the category’s account and counts as the job’s cost.
-
Open the form — Go to Expenses and press Submit expense.
-
Switch to labour — Under Enter as, choose Headcount × day rate. If you have a category posting to 5200 Direct Labour, it’s chosen for you (“Preselected: posts to 5200 Direct Labour.”); you can choose another.
-
Choose the job — Job is now required: labour is always for a job.
-
Add the trades — For each trade, enter the Trade (for example Mason), the number of Workers and the Day rate. Each row shows its total. Press Add trade for another row. A trade you’ve used before is suggested as you type, with its last day rate filled in; you can change it.
-
Check the total — Total for the day adds up every row. For example, 4 masons at 950.00, 3 carpenters at 900.00 and 8 helpers at 650.00 come to 11,700.00.
-
Submit — Add a muster sheet or site photo if you have one (it’s optional for labour), then press Submit expense.
The expense amount is the total for the day. When it’s approved, the expense’s page lists each row, for example “4 Mason × 950.00 = 3,800.00”, and it posts like any expense, tagged to the job.
If a row has no trade, no workers or no day rate, you see “Every row needs a trade, at least one worker and a day rate.” and nothing is saved.
To change the rows while it’s waiting, edit the expense: changing the rows changes the amount. Read receipt isn’t offered for labour.
